During my research stay, I joined the Visualization Design Lab (VDL) at the University of Utah, which is led by Prof. Miriah Meyer and Prof. Alexander Lex. It is embedded in the larger Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI).
Provenance Week 2018 in London
In July 2018, approximately 100 researchers and practitioners interested in the field of provenance gathered at Provenance Week 2018 that took place at King’s College London. Among them, Sarah Oppold (PhD student, Data Engineering group at the Institute of Parallel and Distributed Systems (IPVS), University of Stuttgart) and me.
About Data Provenance and Annotation in Computational Linguistics
At the end of January, Miriam Butt, Melanie Herschel, and Christin Schätzle (members of projects D02 and D03 of the SFB/Transregio 161) organized a workshop on Data Provenance and Annotation in Computational Linguistics in Prague, co-located with the Treebanks and Lingustic Theory (TLT16) conference.
Provenance Research: On Tour in Seattle
The annual Workshop on Theory and Practice of Provenance (TaPP) gathers the international and interdisciplinary provenance community to present and discuss novel research and practical applications of provenance. This year, TaPP was hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle from June 22 to June 23, 2017.
Provenance: On and Behind the Screens
Melanie Herschel and I gave a tutorial at this year’s ACM SIGMOD conference in San Francisco. ACM SIGMOD is one of the important conferences in the field of data engineering and management. Our tutorial with the title “Provenance: On and Behind the Screens” covered the two topics provenance and visualization, and discussed how provenance information can be visualized.
